Human Rights Campaign names Raytheon a "Best Place to Work" for LGBTQ equality for 13th Consecutive Year

WALTHAM, Mass., Nov. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The nonprofit advocacy group Human Rights Campaign has named Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) as a 2018 "Best Place to Work" for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer employees. The Washington, D.C.-based HRC gave Raytheon a perfect 100 percent rating for the thirteenth consecutive year.

HRC is the largest LGBTQ civil rights group in the U.S. The Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the educational arm of the HRC, rated businesses for its annual Corporate Equality Index. The CEI evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices, including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community.

"Ensuring an inclusive environment isn't just the right thing to do; it strengthens Raytheon's competitive advantage," said Emanuel Brady, vice president and chief diversity officer for Raytheon. "Employees who feel valued and empowered to bring their whole self to work are better able to develop creative and innovative solutions for our customers."

Raytheon has long been a diversity pioneer in the aerospace and defense sector. In January 2002, it became one of the first in the industry to adopt a benefits policy for domestic partners. In 2005, it became the first defense company to receive a perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index. And in June 2016, Raytheon became the first in its field to offer a paid parental leave benefit to all employees.
