Raytheon Executive to Deliver SMILE Conference Keynote

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael J. Bostic, West Coast director of Civil Communications for Raytheon Company's (NYSE: RTN) Network Centric Systems, will deliver the keynote presentation at the Social Media the Internet and Law Enforcement (SMILE) Conference Wednesday, Jan. 12. The presentation is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. and will take place at the RAND Center in Santa Monica, Calif.

Bostic's keynote is titled "LTE and What it Means to Public Safety: A Convergence of all Internet Capabilities." It will argue the need for the public-safety sector to work together and engage with industry to help define the future of next-generation Long Term Evolution technologies for civil communications.

Prior to his role at Raytheon, Bostic was a member of the Los Angeles Police Department, where he served for 34 years and held a number of significant positions, including assistant chief.

During the SMILE Conference, Raytheon will also deploy its Regional Interoperable Communications Center self-contained, 18-wheel demo unit featuring many of the company's public safety communications systems. These include open architecture solutions that allow those who operate on different types and network frequencies to easily communicate with each other, whether they are local, regional, or on the other side of the state. Visitors to the trailer will also have the opportunity to experience firsthand the benefits of interoperable communications using Raytheon's Wide Area Interoperability System, P25net™ solution and ACU product lines.
