Two Contracts to Raytheon Solipsys Enhance Homeland Defense

LAUREL, Md., July 20, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Raytheon Solipsys was recently awarded two follow-on homeland defense contracts by the U. S. Air Force and NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) that enhance the U.S.'s ability to recognize and track aircraft and other potential airborne threats operating within U.S. airspace.

Under the NORAD contract, Raytheon Solipsys installed multiple Tactical Display Framework systems in the Air Warning Center of the Cheyenne Mountain operational complex. The contract was awarded by the Electronic Systems Center, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., to augment an existing support contract with "24 x 7" on-call technical assistance, traditional phone and e-mail support, and on-site legacy system cut-over support.

Immediately after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, at the request of the Air Force, Raytheon Solipsys quickly applied its existing Multi-Source Correlator Tracker and Tactical Display Framework products to establish the NORAD Contingency Suite (NCS) system. NCS provides military personnel and government officials with airborne threat recognition capabilities and facilitates the exchange of time-critical, decision-quality information among supporting agencies and systems. Raytheon Solipsys continues to work with the Air Force and NORAD to optimize the capabilities and reliability of the NCS system.

Work on the contracts is performed by Raytheon Solipsys personnel on-site at customer locations as well as at Raytheon Solipsys' headquarters in Laurel, Md.
