Raytheon to demonstrate mission-enabling innovations at Farnborough International Airshow 2012

Company to host first airshow Tweetup for invited Twitter followers from around the world

WALTHAM, Mass., July 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) will employ the latest in interactive technologies, provide the opportunity to speak with top subject matter experts, hold several media events and host its first airshow Tweetup at Farnborough International Airshow 2012 (July 9 -15, Farnborough, England).

Raytheon's exhibit pavilion (OE9) will feature hands-on demonstrations spanning "Innovation In All Domains – Air, Land, Sea, Space, Cyber." The company will emphasize solutions for protecting military pilots and affordably upgrading their fixed-wing and rotary aircraft in service around the world. Visitors will experience exciting innovations in action including:

  • The debut of interoperable solutions that significantly enhance situational awareness for military pilots inside, and separated from, the cockpit;
  • An immersive, "4D" simulator to showcase technology that allows aging aircraft instruments to be easily and cost-effectively upgraded;
  • Interactive demos devoted to Integrated Air & Missile Defense; Global Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance; Net-Enabled Solutions; Space; Cybersecurity; and more.

The Raytheon exhibit pavilion will be located adjacent to the Raytheon chalet (C7-9), where a range of additional interactive displays will be available for demonstrations and discussions.

European Missile Defense: A Systems Approach
Wes Kremer, vice president, Air & Missile Defense Systems, will provide an update on the latest initiatives of the Phased Adaptive Approach for the defense of Europe against threat ballistic missiles -- including the SM-3 interceptor and key sensor assets.

Integrated Strategies for Lower Tier Defense
Tim Glaeser, vice president, Integrated Air & Missile Defense, will explain how a proliferation of threats is driving rapid advancement and adoption of the Raytheon portfolio, including Patriot, NASAMS and HAWK/HAWK XXI.

Advanced ISR for a Changing World
Jim Hvizd, vice president, International Strategy and Business Development, and Brooke Griffith, director, International Business Development, will highlight advanced technologies and approaches that address ISR mission challenges. Royal Air Force warfighters will discuss ASTOR in the counterinsurgency battle following its year in enduring operations with the RAF 5 Squadron.

Air Warfare Systems
Harry Schulte, vice president, Air Warfare Systems, will discuss the latest innovations, including news about recent test milestones in the Small Diameter Bomb II program, plans to export the Griffin® missile, and the first international sale of a new type of Paveway™.

Secure Communications Networks
Andy Zogg, vice president, Business Development, will discuss key programs and the enabling technologies of secure communications networks for armed forces and authorities around the world.

Global Air Traffic Management
Andy Zogg and John Steckel, vice presidents of Business Development, will brief on the latest air traffic management systems and training solutions for enhancing capacity, maintaining safety and reducing operating costs amidst the increase in global air traffic.

On July 13, Raytheon will hold a Tweetup by hosting a select group of its Twitter followers as guests of the company. Participants from Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States will receive demonstrations of Raytheon technology, view aircraft on display, explore the show by way of its themed Futures Tours, and have a prime viewing position to watch champion student rocketeers from France, the United Kingdom and the United States compete for the global championship in the annual International Rocketry Challenge.

Raytheon, lead sponsor of the rocketry competition, is also underwriting the participation and travel of the Madison, Wis., West High School team, which prevailed in the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) finals in Virginia on May 12. Madison West bested 99 teams for the chance to represent the United States at Farnborough.

The company's sponsorship of the International Rocketry Challenge and TARC is part of Raytheon's MathMovesU® program, an initiative designed to support and inspire the engineers and technologists of tomorrow.
