Raytheon to award student veterans $30,000 in scholarships

Student Veterans of America aligned with STEM career opportunities

WALTHAM, Mass., July 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) and Student Veterans of America (SVA) will open the application process for the Raytheon-SVA Scholarship July 4, 2014, to be presented to three student veterans pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in engineering fields and who have demonstrated leadership in their local communities. Three $10,000 scholarships will be awarded, for a total commitment of $30,000. Applications will be accepted through October 1, 2014.

Military veterans pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in any of the following fields are invited to apply:

  • Engineering: Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Software or Systems
  • Cyber Security / Network Security

Raytheon and SVA joined forces in November 2012 with a shared mission to provide military veterans with the resources, support and advocacy needed to succeed in higher education. Such empowerment helps our nation's warfighters find success in their civilian lives and answers the call to action from SVA's Million Records Project – a study on the academic progress of student veterans, of which Raytheon is a sponsor.

"Given the appropriate resources, veterans possess the capacity to make a huge impact in America's communities and economy," said D. Wayne Robinson, SVA's President and CEO. "As shown through the findings of the Million Records Project, veterans are pursuing degrees in high-growth, in-demand fields including, engineering and information technology. This continued partnership illustrates Raytheon's commitment to the veteran community and their dedication to ensuring those who have served are afforded every opportunity to succeed."
