Raytheon named most community-minded company in U.S. industrials sector

The Civic 50 provides a national standard for superior corporate citizenship

WALTHAM, Mass., June 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Points of Light, the world's largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, has named Raytheon the most community-minded company in the U.S. Industrials Sector. The non-profit Points of Light, founded in 1990, listed Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) among its annual Civic 50 ranking of U.S. community-minded companies for its corporate citizenship.

Raytheon's community initiatives support military families and veterans, focus on science, technology, engineering and math education and the creation of stimulating career opportunities, and promoting a sustainable environment.

"Whether we are supporting a veteran's transition to a civilian career or inspiring a child through hands-on STEM programs, Raytheon's corporate responsibility commitments focus on making a difference in individual lives and communities," said Thomas A. Kennedy, Raytheon Chairman and CEO. "The Civic 50 recognition underscores the important role business can play when it uses its time, talent and resources to have a lasting impact."

The Civic 50 winners are selected based on their community investment, program integration, institutionalization and impact of their U.S. community engagement programs. The annual survey is administered by True Impact, a company specializing in helping organizations maximize and measure their social and business value. The survey instrument consists of quantitative and multiple-choice questions that inform the Civic 50 scoring process. The Civic 50 is the only survey and ranking system that exclusively measures corporate involvement in communities.
