RESTON, Va., Sept. 30, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company's (NYSE: RTN) Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) program at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has successfully achieved an ISO 20000:2005 registration, the first international standard for information service management.

The AWIPS program provides operations and maintenance of the National Weather Service's critical weather infrastructure. The Raytheon AWIPS team is only the eighth organization in the United States to achieve the ISO 20000:2005 registration for information technology service management.

ISO 20000:2005 promotes the adoption of an integrated, interrelated process to effectively deliver managed services. The standard involves the successful implementation of an information technology infrastructure library framework, a collection of industry best practices for IT service delivery.
