Raytheon Reaches Production Milestone on Critical Communications Capability
20,000th Enhanced Position Location Reporting System shipped
MARLBOROUGH, Mass., Oct. 7, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has reached a key milestone with the production of its 20,000th Enhanced Position Location Reporting System. EPLRS is the most widely deployed, mobile, ad-hoc networking system on the battlefield, providing simultaneous data, video and situational awareness information.
EPLRS has been in production since 1986 and has been fielded by all four branches of the U.S. military as well as Canadian forces. Used in airborne, vehicular, and dismounted applications, EPLRS enables sharing of tactical situational awareness, command and control information and voice communication.
