WALTHAM, Mass., Dec. 1, 2004  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Raytheon Company
mourns the loss of Francis "Hooks" Burr who passed away Thursday, Nov. 25 at
the age of 90.  Burr served for 20 years as a member of Raytheon's Board of
Directors from Sept. 1977 to Dec. 1997.

    "Hooks Burr had a distinguished tenure on our Board during a critical
period in Raytheon's development," said William H. Swanson, Raytheon's
Chairman and CEO.  "His wisdom, advice and counsel were invaluable to the
company.  In addition to his contributions to business, Hooks volunteered his
time to help others, particularly to improve health care and education.  He
made a lasting impact and will be missed."

    Burr served as a senior fellow at Harvard University, as a prominent
Boston attorney with Ropes & Gray, and as a trustee at Massachusetts General
Hospital.  Throughout his career, Burr is remembered for his leadership,
including fund-raising efforts and innovative health care program development
at Massachusetts General Hospital, and for leading the search that resulted in
the selection of Derek Bok as Harvard president.  Burr also volunteered his
time to the United Negro College Fund and the American Civil Liberties Union.
He will be forever remembered for his quiet and effective leadership in
improving health care and higher education.
