Raytheon to Provide Information Security for Homeland Secure Data Network
MCKINNEY, Texas, July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Northrop Grumman Information Technology has selected Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) to provide information security systems for its Homeland Secure Data Network (HSDN) program. As part of the task order award by General Services Administration Federal Technology Service (FTS) under the Millennia Government Wide Acquisition Contract, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) selected Northrop Grumman to design, implement and operate HSDN. The program establishes a classified information network that will give DHS a modern infrastructure for the secure communication of classified information. When completed, HSDN will be a private, certified, and accredited network that will help the DHS to protect America from terrorism. "Raytheon has a vital role in HSDN: to protect and defend the classified information network against potential invasion by hackers, viruses and other destructive forces," said Dr. Hugo Poza, vice president of Raytheon's Homeland Security Strategic Business Area. "Our pledge to Northrop Grumman and to the Department of Homeland Security is to develop, implement and maintain technical solutions, tools and system configurations that will assure the system's integrity." HSDN builds upon Raytheon's four-year involvement in the Navy and Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) program for which the company developed, implemented and maintained information security systems for NMCI's 300,000 users and its four network operation centers. Raytheon Company, with 2003 sales of $18.1 billion, is an industry leader in defense and government electronics, space, information technology, technical services, and business and special mission aircraft. With headquarters in Waltham, Mass., Raytheon employs 78,000 people worldwide.
