Raytheon Celebrates One Year of Training Support to the U.S. Army
RESTON, Va. and PARIS, June 18, 2009 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has demonstrated flexibility, speed and innovation to customers around the world during the first year of the Warfighter Field Operations Customer Support (FOCUS) program.
The Raytheon-led Warrior Training Alliance (WTA) team has processed more than 2,600 task orders during the past year.
"This shows our ability to surge quickly to immediately meet the needs of our customers," said Mike Edwards, Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC vice president and program manager for the WTA. "Our fully automated management information system allows for the speedy delivery of task orders. Our open business model provides versatility and flexibility to select the best companies to support the evolving requirements of our customers."
Raytheon was awarded the contract in June 2007 and began work for the U.S. Army's Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation in May 2008. The purpose of the 10-year, indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity contract is to consolidate the Army's legacy live, virtual and constructive training programs. The estimated value during the life of the contract is $11.2 billion.
Raytheon demonstrated its innovative approach to addressing warfighter readiness requirements during a recent training exercise. A team of engineers helped bring full-scale combat training technologies to soldiers who would otherwise be required to travel long distances to a combat training center for the same experience.
In the past year, Raytheon has also expanded into new areas. These included Fort Huachuca, Ariz., home to the U.S. Army Intelligence Center, where the team provides training and training support in the human, analytical, imagery, signal and geological intelligence domains. Raytheon also provides training on unmanned aerial systems.
"Throughout the successes of the past year and the delivery of innovative training support, we have been able to provide efficiencies to our customer through manpower reductions, process improvements and cross-utilization of employees," Edwards said.
The Raytheon-led WTA includes major teammates Computer Sciences Corporation, General Dynamics Information Technology, MPRI and more than 130 other companies. These training industry leaders bring proven, current and relevant experience across all training environments, including live, virtual and constructive. With a combined legacy of executing large-scale and complex programs, the WTA is organized to apply the right resources to accomplish each task and to deliver the best-value, lowest risk solutions.
