DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 15, 2009 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has been awarded a $20.5 million Foreign Military Sales contract for spares to support planned Patriot Configuration-3 system upgrades for the State of Kuwait.

This sole source, not-to-exceed contract from the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, Ala., calls for essential parts to support the sustainment of Configuration-3 radar systems to ensure continued mission performance. Configuration-3 radar enhancements include improved detection of small targets in a cluttered environment, enhanced capabilities to discriminate and identify tactical ballistic missile warheads, and an expanded area of defense with improved remote launch capabilities.

Work under this contract will be performed by Raytheon IDS at the Integrated Air Defense Center in Andover, Mass.
