Raytheon's CEO to Meet Tuskegee University Raytheon Scholars to Promote Math and Science Education

    WALTHAM, Mass., Jan. 12, 2005  /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company Chairman
and CEO, William H. Swanson will visit Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Ala.,
today to meet and acknowledge the first class of Raytheon Scholars, a select
group of highly talented engineering and computer science students. Swanson
will introduce the Raytheon Scholars at a ceremony in the Kellogg Auditorium
on the Tuskegee University campus.

    "Promoting math and science education is a focus for our company and an
important priority for our country," said Swanson. "We depend on a skilled
technical team of diverse professionals to develop solutions for our
customers' increasingly challenging needs."

    This initiative, funded by an $850,000 commitment from Raytheon, allows
Tuskegee to provide scholarships for highly talented undergraduate students
majoring in engineering and computer science. These students will be assigned
important research and development projects, enabling them to apply their
knowledge to technical challenges and preparing them for future careers in
engineering.

    By helping Tuskegee attract talented students and encourage math and
science education, this program builds a stronger, more diverse engineering
talent pool and supports Raytheon's efforts to create an inclusive workforce.
In planning for the technological and scientific needs of the future, Raytheon
is committed to promoting math and science education through its contribution
programs.

    The Raytheon Scholars, who began their studies at Tuskegee University last
fall, are:
