Raytheon's Patriot GEM-T Missiles Two for Two

    TEWKSBURY, Mass., Feb. 8, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Raytheon
Company's low cost Patriot GEM-T missiles destroyed two target drones during a
test conducted at White Sands Missile Range, N.M. last week.

During the test, a Patriot Configuration -- 3 firing unit successfully
intercepted two low-flying target drones, destroying both targets. The test
went smoothly as planned, with the ground equipment and radar seamlessly
interfacing with the missiles, resulting in a near vertical intercept of the
incoming targets.

This test was an important milestone for the GEM-T missiles because it was
in support of a full material release decision. Raytheon is currently under
contract to the Army to upgrade 376 missiles to the GEM-T configuration. To
date, 230 of the upgraded missiles have been delivered. The GEM-T is an
economical, cost effective upgrade for the Patriot PAC-2 missile that provides
significant capability for countering the full range of air defense threats,
including aircraft, tactical ballistic missiles and cruise missiles. It is
available to both the U.S. Army and approved international allies.

The test was supported by soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, 43rd Air
Defense Artillery, stationed at Ft. Bliss, Texas. The soldiers performed
flawlessly. "Their professionalism contributed significantly to the success
of the test," said Bruce Parker, Raytheon's Patriot Flight Test Manager.
