"Lockheed Martin and Raytheon have a long and successful track record of working together on many missile defense programs that protect our nation and its allies," said Davis. "I am honored to be a part of this important pursuit."
Among his new duties, Davis will play a key role interfacing with MDA. He will also facilitate communication between Raytheon and Lockheed Martin on all aspects of GMD, including the Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle program. Raytheon's EKV is the interceptor component of the Ground Based Interceptor element of the GMD system.
"Raytheon is a strategic partner in this pursuit," said Mathew J. Joyce, GMD vice president and program manager for Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company. "Reid brings a wealth of experience that will enable our team to deliver a winning proposal to the customer."
As a strategic partner to Lockheed Martin, Raytheon will also provide systems engineering, development, modeling and simulation, manufacturing, testing, training, and operations and sustainment at key GMD sites.
Earlier this year, MDA issued an amended draft request for proposals for GMD development and sustainment. The agency announced it will award the contract in 2011.
