Raytheon to demonstrate mission-enabling innovations at Farnborough International Airshow 2012
Company to host first airshow Tweetup for invited Twitter followers from around the world
WALTHAM, Mass., July 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) will employ the latest in interactive technologies, provide the opportunity to speak with top subject matter experts, hold several media events and host its first airshow Tweetup at Farnborough International Airshow 2012 (July 9 -15, Farnborough, England).
Raytheon's exhibit pavilion (OE9) will feature hands-on demonstrations spanning "Innovation In All Domains – Air, Land, Sea, Space, Cyber." The company will emphasize solutions for protecting military pilots and affordably upgrading their fixed-wing and rotary aircraft in service around the world. Visitors will experience exciting innovations in action including:
- The debut of interoperable solutions that significantly enhance situational awareness for military pilots inside, and separated from, the cockpit;
- An immersive, "4D" simulator to showcase technology that allows aging aircraft instruments to be easily and cost-effectively upgraded;
- Interactive demos devoted to Integrated Air & Missile Defense; Global Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance; Net-Enabled Solutions; Space; Cybersecurity; and more.
The Raytheon exhibit pavilion will be located adjacent to the Raytheon chalet (C7-9), where a range of additional interactive displays will be available for demonstrations and discussions.

On July 13, Raytheon will hold a Tweetup by hosting a select group of its Twitter followers as guests of the company. Participants from Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States will receive demonstrations of Raytheon technology, view aircraft on display, explore the show by way of its themed Futures Tours, and have a prime viewing position to watch champion student rocketeers from France, the United Kingdom and the United States compete for the global championship in the annual International Rocketry Challenge.
Raytheon, lead sponsor of the rocketry competition, is also underwriting the participation and travel of the Madison, Wis., West High School team, which prevailed in the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) finals in Virginia on May 12. Madison West bested 99 teams for the chance to represent the United States at Farnborough.
The company's sponsorship of the International Rocketry Challenge and TARC is part of Raytheon's MathMovesU® program, an initiative designed to support and inspire the engineers and technologists of tomorrow.
