OTTAWA, Ontario, June 6, 2005 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Canada Limited has received a contract award to deliver a turnkey FIRSTplus air traffic control (ATC) training simulator to the Civil Aviation Training College (CATC) in Allahabad, India. Financial terms were not disclosed. The company expects the system to be operational by mid 2005.

SES Systems Pte Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited, is the prime contractor.

FIRSTplus is a leading edge, user friendly, highly realistic and cost effective ATC training tool. Based on a commercial-off-the-shelf, Windows- based system, FIRSTplus includes a virtual control tower "out of the window" display as well as virtual radar simulation that represent enroute and terminal ATC environments. The system is based on the solid foundation of Raytheon's FIRST product which is fielded in more than 40 countries.

FIRSTplus presents a highly realistic, three-dimensional tower environment that will allow CATC to conduct rigorous instruction and evaluation of air traffic control trainees, without incurring the risk and cost associated with traditional on-the-job training.
