WALTHAM, Mass., Dec. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has achieved a perfect 100 percent score on the Human Rights Campaign's 2014 Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for the ninth consecutive time. The company's top grade has also earned HRC's Best Place to Work designation.
Raytheon is one of 303 companies to receive a perfect rating in what the HRC refers to as a historic year of progress for the equal rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Americans.
"We consider our diversity of talent and thought as a global competitive advantage," said Raytheon's Chief Diversity Officer Hayward Bell. "This ninth consecutive 100 percent rating of Raytheon by the HRC reflects our core values to treat all people with respect and dignity, and to welcome diversity and diverse opinions from our employees worldwide."
The 2014 CEI rated 934 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community. Raytheon's efforts in satisfying all of the CEI's criteria resulted in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.
