Raytheon Company Focuses on Role as Global Integrator of Mission Systems at Farnborough International Air Show
WALTHAM, Mass., July 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) will highlight its global capabilities as an integrator of mission systems during this year's Farnborough Air Show opening July 19. "We will showcase our capabilities during the show that allow our customers to perform their missions," said William H. Swanson, Raytheon chairman and CEO. "In today's environment, it is no longer just about products but how they are integrated together. Raytheon has the domain knowledge that allows us to integrate these systems to enable customer success." "The Farnborough Air Show provides us a unique opportunity to discuss our mission solutions with our customers and industry partners," said Louise Francesconi, president of Raytheon Missile Systems business. "For Missile Systems, we expect to discuss new developments in the effects chain." In addition to Missile Systems, other Raytheon businesses participating in the show are Space and Airborne Systems, Intelligence and Information Systems, Raytheon Aircraft, and Integrated Defense Systems. Raytheon expertise in airborne surveillance and reconnaissance systems, network centric systems, unmanned airborne systems, weapon systems and military pilot training systems will be profiled during press briefings at the show July 19-22. On July 19 at 7:30 a.m. representatives from Raytheon and the UK Ministry of Defense will highlight recent successes of the Airborne Stand-Off Radar (ASTOR) system. Also on July 19 at 1 p.m. Raytheon representatives will discuss the Rapid Partnering in Defence (RaPID) program. On July 20 at noon Capt. "BD" Gaddis, USN F/A-18 program manager, will talk about the F/A-18 Super Hornet as a network centric platform. On July 21 at 10 a.m. Capt. Dave Dunaway, USN weapons program manager, will talk about the latest developments in the JSOW, or Joint Standoff Weapon, program. Also on July 21 at noon Brig. Gen. James Smith USAF (Ret.) will discuss Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, focusing on developments in the expendable and weapon-sized category. Three of the company's strategic business areas -- missile defense, precision engagement, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance -- will be the primary focus at the Raytheon exhibit. The exhibits include the sensor-to-shooter systems for precision engagement, including the latest in active electronically scanned arrays (AESA), electronic warfare and air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons. The ISR systems featured include the sensor systems for the U.S. Navy's Multi Mission Aircraft and the integrated sensor suite for the Global Hawk. Among the missile defense systems are Patriot and Surface-Launched AMRAAM. Raytheon Aircraft will be unveiling its evolutionary T-6B advanced avionics training aircraft in the static display, and world-renowned aerobatic pilot Patty Wagstaff will perform during the show in the T-6 primary trainer. "This is the first time a Raytheon aircraft will be flown during the show," said Jim Schuster, Raytheon Aircraft Company chairman and CEO. "With the T- 6B's versatile cockpit, we can increase the student's exposure to advanced avionics in the primary phase of training and more easily facilitate the transition to more sophisticated platforms." The T-6B will be the subject of a July 20 press briefing at 8:30 a.m. Wagstaff is scheduled to be inducted in the National Aviation Hall of Fame in Dayton, Ohio, on July 17.
