Raytheon's Poza Among 50 Most Important Hispanics in Business and Technology
FALLS CHURCH, Va., May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Hispanic Engineer & Information Technology magazine has once again selected Raytheon Company's Dr. Hugo B. Poza, vice president, Homeland Security Strategic Business Area, as one of the country's 50 most important Hispanic executives in technology and business. This marks the second year in a row that Dr. Poza has been named to the prestigious list. The list, published for the fifth year, demonstrates the new direction of America in embracing diversity and creating a more inclusive work force, according to the magazine's editors. Poza was selected from hundreds of candidates in government, academia, and corporate America. The magazine's editors added that Poza and the others recognized were chosen based on expansive leadership responsibilities, not only in the workplace but in the community as well. Dr. Poza was appointed to his current position in June 2002. Previously, he was vice president and general manager of Strategic Systems in Raytheon's Command, Control, Communication and Information Systems (C3I) business. During his tenure, Strategic Systems achieved a 31 percent growth in revenues and a 52 percent growth in profits. A native of Cuba, Dr. Poza graduated from the University of Dayton with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1966. He earned a master's degree in electrical engineering in 1967 from Purdue University and a doctorate of electrical engineering degree from Purdue in 1971. Poza serves on The Journal of Electronic Defense Editorial Advisory Board and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
