Raytheon Wins Joint Environmental Toolkit Contract
OMAHA, Neb., April 3, 2006 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has been awarded a contract worth potentially $71 million over 54 months, with an initial contract award of $9.3 million, for Phase 2 of the Joint Environmental Toolkit (JET) program.
The contract was awarded by Electronic Systems Center, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass. The Raytheon-led team was awarded Phase 1 of the program in July 2004.
The objective of the JET acquisition is to replace legacy weather systems with a single, integrated capability providing tailored weather products to users, interfacing with command and control systems, and implementing the "to be" architecture for the Air Force Weather Weapon System.
The program will employ evolutionary acquisition concepts to deliver a scalable hardware and software system to provide commonality and meet Air Force and Army needs for weather forecast generation, meteorological watch, and observation management, with increased accuracy and decreased latency.
"Raytheon is extremely proud to continue our relationship with the Air Force weather community," said Mike Keebaugh, president of Raytheon's Intelligence and Information Systems business. "The JET program is critical to providing a network-centric environment in support of the warfighter's mission."
