Raytheon SLAMRAAM Program Marks Delivery of First Integrated Fire Control Shelter

TEWKSBURY, Mass., May 30, 2006 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company's SLAMRAAM (Surface Launched Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile) program marked the delivery of the first Integrated Fire Control Shelter (IFCS) May 26 at a ceremony at Boeing's Huntsville, Ala., facility.

The IFCS provides command and control for multiple SLAMRAAM fire units, thus enabling integrated fire control capabilities. The Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems' (IDS) SLAMRAAM system of systems provides the warfighter a tailorable, state of the art air defense system that can defeat current and emerging cruise missile threats and a wide range of so-called air breathing threats.

As prime system integrator, Raytheon will now integrate the air and missile defense common software to complete the IFCS functionality and prepare the IFCS for entry into the SLAMRAAM test program. The IFCS is the first of five to be designed and developed by subcontractor Boeing.

"This delivery is a significant milestone for Team SLAMRAAM as we move forward from hardware and software component design and build phase into system integration and test of the SLAMRAAM system," said Steve Kaspar, Raytheon IDS SLAMRAAM program manager.

"SLAMRAAM will provide our warfighters with a technologically advanced defense system to defeat a wide range of air breathing threats."

Army Brig. Gen. Mike Cannon, Missiles and Space program executive officer at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala., attended the turnover ceremony and recognized the significant efforts and results of TEAM SLAMRAAM.

Integrated Defense Systems is Raytheon's leader in Joint Battlespace Integration providing affordable, integrated solutions to a strong international and domestic customer base, including the U.S. Missile Defense Agency and the U.S. armed forces.
