Raytheon Promotes Gildea and Names Him Vice President, U.S. Business Development

    WASHINGTON, Aug. 5  /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company has promoted Richard
F. (Rick) Gildea to the position of vice president for U.S. Business
Development in the company's Corporate Business Development organization.  In
his new position, Gildea is responsible for the capture of domestic business
and for maintaining and enhancing customer satisfaction.  He will have overall
responsibility for all Raytheon domestic sales and bookings and the
organization's 13 capability teams and 23 U.S. field offices.

    Gildea's most recent assignments were as vice president for Navy Programs,
and director, Naval Aviation programs for Raytheon.  Prior to the Raytheon-
Hughes merger in December 1997, he was director, Navy Business Development for
Hughes Aircraft Company.

    With more than 24 years of industry business development experience,
Gildea also has a broad U.S. Navy background.  He is a retired Navy captain
who has flown more than 220 combat missions in F-4 and F-14 aircraft.
Currently, he is a vice president and member of the Board of Directors of the
Washington, D.C. Council of the Navy League.

    Gildea received his undergraduate degree from St. John's University, N.Y.,
and he did his graduate studies in Systems Management at the University of
Southern California.  He is also a graduate of the Raytheon Business
Leadership and Hughes Advanced Leadership Programs.
