Raytheon in North Texas Honored with Cogswell Award for National Security Excellence

MCKINNEY, Texas, Oct. 3, 2006 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company's facilities in North Texas were awarded the James S. Cogswell Award for outstanding industrial security achievement by the Defense Security Service (DSS), an agency of the Department of Defense charged with overseeing the national industrial security program.

The award was presented today to Colin Schottlaender, president of Raytheon's Network Centric Systems (NCS), by Patricia Dotson, DSS regional director, at NCS' McKinney, Texas, headquarters.

"Our commitment to national security and Mission Assurance is second to none," said Schottlaender. "This award validates our absolute commitment to secure the information that helps protect the lives of American warfighters. It's an honor to accept the Cogswell Award on behalf of the men and women of Raytheon who work in the North Texas area."

Of the nearly 11,000 contractor organizations with appropriate security clearance levels, less than one tenth of one percent are selected to receive this prestigious DSS award. It is presented each year and recognizes consistent superior security ratings and sustained excellence in overall security program management, implementation and oversight.

The Cogswell Award was established in 1966 and named in honor of the late Air Force Col. James S. Cogswell, first chief of the unified office of industrial security.
