Raytheon JPS Communications Partners with Etherstack on Channel Controller

RALEIGH, N.C., Nov. 15, 2006 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company's (NYSE: RTN) JPS Communications has partnered with Etherstack to market a Project 25 (P25) channel controller in North America. The device controls digital communication signals in two-way public safety radios.

The P25 channel controller converts analog radio channels to P25 digital channels, allowing the user to economically replace conventional analog communication systems with the modernized P25 digital system. The controller will be marketed by Raytheon's JPS Communications, while Etherstack will maintain responsibility for continued development of the device.

"We see this as a great opportunity to immediately expand our P25 conversion technology into North American markets with a highly reputable company and industry expert," said David Deacon, CEO of Etherstack.

"The idea behind the P25 channel controller fits into JPS' philosophy of providing low-cost interoperability options that allow our customers to use their current equipment for their long term communication needs," said Keith McDonald, vice president of sales and marketing for Raytheon JPS Communications. "It provides a simple and affordable way to gain the advanced features and benefits of a P25 radio system."
