GARLAND, Texas, Dec. 1, 2006 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company's (NYSE: RTN) Mission Integration and Development (MIND) program was recently selected as one of the Department of Defense's (DoD) Top 5 Program Award recipients.

The MIND program team was selected for the strong processes and oversight related to overall program management and engineering of its development, integration, operation, and maintenance of the National Reconnaissance Office's (NRO) future imagery architecture. The selection committee was composed of government and industry judges.

"The MIND program continues to have a strong partnership with the NRO in meeting programmatic and technical objectives," said Jane Chappell, vice president of Strategic Intelligence Systems for Raytheon's Intelligence and Information System business. "We continue to provide the NRO a key technology enabler for its strategic framework."

The National Defense Industrial Association presented the Top 5 DoD Program Award to Raytheon and the NRO MIND team at the association's annual Systems Engineering Conference in San Diego Oct. 25. The MIND contract was awarded to Raytheon and an industry team in April 1999.

Centaur is a portable, lightweight fire-direction system capability for use during initial entry operations.
