TEWKSBURY, Mass., Dec. 20, 2006 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has received international recognition for environmental stewardship, earning an Award of Excellence from the International Facility Management Association for its company-wide energy conservation efforts.
Raytheon's Enterprise Energy Team developed and implemented a cutting-edge program called "Energy Conservation for a Competitive Advantage" that reduced electricity consumption by 10 percent, saving $10 million in energy costs and 62,000 metric tons of equivalent CO2 (carbon dioxide) this year.
The Enterprise Energy Team developed the tools, metrics, and awareness program deployed throughout seven business units, encompassing more than 30 million square feet of facilities in the United States. "Our people embrace how important energy conservation is to our customers, to our future generations, and to our business. Their personal commitment and pride in results is what makes Raytheon capable of making great things happen," said Dan Ryan, Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Operations vice president.
On behalf of Raytheon, Steve Fugarazzo, Enterprise Energy team manager and IDS Operations facilities engineering manager, received the George Graves Award given for Facility Management Achievement.
