Raytheon to Demonstrate Global Joint Interoperability Solutions During U.S.-Japan Joint Exercise
TEWKSBURY, Mass., Jan. 30, 2007 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) will conduct the second in a series of global command and control integrated battle management demonstrations for U.S. Forces Japan during KEEN EDGE 2007, a U.S-Japan joint military exercise beginning Feb. 1.
Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems will demonstrate prototype capabilities for the Bi-Lateral Joint Operations Coordination Center, which provides a common operational picture, enabling multiple users to simultaneously access essential information. This capability provides a more effective and rapid coordination of responses for both military and civilian contingency operations.
"This demonstration underscores Raytheon's leadership in providing joint global solutions for our warfighters and civilian authorities," said Pete Franklin, vice president of Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems Missile Defense Business Area. "Raytheon is working to spirally develop capabilities that will address current threats. Our technology, coupled with our expertise in systems engineering and integration and sensor technology, provides a critical capability with applications across missions and services."
Raytheon will leverage lessons learned in three successful JFires demonstrations over the past few months to provide the warfighter these critical capabilities. JFires provides a single integrated air picture across multiple theaters, ensuring the warfighter has the required information to make critical decisions.
The advanced command and control capabilities that Raytheon will demonstrate during KEEN EDGE will showcase the latest technology available to the warfighter. The company conducted its first Bi-Lateral Joint Operations Coordination Center demonstration for U.S. Forces Japan in November 2006 at the Integrated Defense Systems Missile Defense Center in Woburn, Mass. That demonstration successfully integrated data for multiple missions, simultaneously injected from four separate Raytheon facilities in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Virginia, and Alabama.
Integrated Defense Systems is Raytheon's leader in Joint Battlespace Integration providing affordable, integrated solutions to a broad international and domestic customer base, including the U.S. Missile Defense Agency, the U.S. Armed Forces and the Department of Homeland Security.
