WALTHAM, Mass., March 6, 2007 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has been named a 2007 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for outstanding energy management practices and reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

The award to Raytheon in the industrial category is for superior business and organizational energy management, education and outreach. Award winners are selected from thousands of organizations participating in the ENERGY STAR program. Raytheon's accomplishments will be recognized at an awards ceremony to be held in Washington, D.C. March 21, 2007.

Raytheon's Energy Conservation for a Competitive Advantage program - launched last year to engage and educate all employees in smart energy use - resulted in an estimated $9 million in energy costs avoided during 2006 and helped keep Raytheon's businesses competitive. The estimated 271 billion BTUs (British Thermal Units) saved during 2006 could have powered 8,000 homes, represented a nine percent improvement in energy consumption over 2005 when normalized for business revenue, and underscored a companywide commitment to reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

The Raytheon program - led by an enterprisewide team of energy experts - has empowered 900 internal Energy Champions with responsibility for energy conservation in specific work areas including the motivation of fellow employees to identify and implement energy conservation measures. Through benchmarking capabilities and communicating best practices, the program is constantly expanding to educate all employees worldwide.
