MCKINNEY, Texas, Sept. 28, 2007 /PRNewswire/ -- A Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) partnership with the U.S. Army has been named the winner of the Defense Department's 2007 Secretary of Defense Performance Based Logistics (Sub-System Level) Award.

The partnership on Improved Target Acquisition System (ITAS) Contractor Logistics Support was cited by DoD for dramatically improving the mission success of the ITAS through innovative performance based logistics.

Against a requirement of 90 percent, the Raytheon ITAS CLS team achieved an average operational readiness rate of 99.7 percent for the Army's 782 ITAS. That performance along with significant improvement in repair times has resulted in an estimated cost savings of nearly $300 million for the Army.

The award acknowledges the outstanding government-industry partnership of Raytheon's Network Centric Systems Contractor Logistics Support team and the Army in establishing a benchmark program for maintenance and mission support for the ITAS program.

Network Centric Systems is in the first year of a ten-year, firm-fixed- price contract to provide performance based logistics and mission support for this Army and Marine Corps tactical system. The contract requires Raytheon to provide worldwide logistics support to Army and Marine Corps operations at garrison locations, training centers, and in combat operations around the world. The ITAS CLS program is managed out of Raytheon's McKinney, Texas, facility with field service representatives located around the world, including Iraq and Afghanistan.
