Raytheon's New Warfighter Protection Center Receives Two Environmental Awards

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Oct. 22, 2007 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company's (NYSE: RTN) new Warfighter Protection Center in Huntsville, Ala., was honored recently with two awards for its efforts to reduce air pollutant emissions and for promoting environmental education. The City of Huntsville and its Air Pollution Control Board presented the awards.

"These two environmental awards are very special for us because they highlight the many energy saving features we incorporated into our new facility and the additional steps we have taken to encourage our employees to save energy," said Tony Palumbo, the center's executive.

One of the environmental awards cited Raytheon for designing the new Huntsville facility with multiple low-energy technologies including low- emittance glass and motion-triggered lighting fixtures and ventilation systems. The other award was for a new environmental education category, a result of Raytheon's employee-aimed programs promoting energy conservation and environmental stewardship. Examples include preferred parking spots for employees who carpool or drive low-emission vehicles and signs promoting energy conservation at home and in the workplace.

"Taking a leadership role in preserving our environment through our Raytheon facilities is a top priority for us," said Dan Ryan, Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems vice president of operations. "Receiving these two awards for the many 'green' features in our new center in Huntsville is very much appreciated."

Raytheon made a significant investment in the Huntsville community earlier this year when it opened the 143,000-square-foot Warfighter Protection Center. The combination of a pool of talented employees, high-quality communities, and access to multiple customers makes Huntsville an ideal location.
