Raytheon Program Receives Top Network Centric Warfare Awards

MARLBOROUGH, Mass., Feb. 13, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company's (NYSE: RTN) Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System, or AFATDS, has received top honors in two categories at the network centric warfare awards sponsored by the Institute for Defense and Government Advancement.

The awards honor, recognize and promote initiatives in the Department of Defense, coalition governments and defense industry that exemplify the principles of network centric warfare and support information age transformation.

The AFATDS awards for the outstanding achievement from the defense industry and for outstanding U.S. government program were based on a review by a panel of judges representing the DoD, active duty military, industry and academia.

"This is a tremendous honor for our government customer and industry team," said Jack Harrington, vice president, command and control systems for Raytheon's Network Centric Systems. "We continue to build on a solid foundation as we evolve our products to meet the future needs of the warfighter while delivering innovative solutions."

AFATDS is part of the battle command networked system, providing fire support command and control capability for the Army and Marine Corps. It has been employed in combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The AFATDS team award comes on the heels of the program's recognition as a Top 5 Program by the National Defense and Industrial Association during its annual conference and award ceremony in October 2007.

"We are proud that our efforts are truly making a difference," said Ted Hom, product director, Fire Support Command and Control, PM Battle Command. "We continually strive to exploit advances in technology and robust net- centric capabilities to provide our warfighters the best equipment available."
