Raytheon to Lead Team of Weather System Experts for Next-Generation NOAA Ground System
Providing meteorologists greater knowledge of atmospheric and space weather conditions
AURORA, Colo., Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) will head a team of technology leaders to pursue a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) next-generation Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite R series known as GOES-R ground segment. The GOES program provides the nation with continuous severe weather sentinels in space.
GOES-R satellites will not only provide critical weather observations for severe weather events such as hurricanes, but they will also provide key enhancements in observational capabilities for climate, oceans and coasts, and the space environment. GOES-R will take environmental data collection and analysis and weather forecasting to new heights.
Raytheon GOES-R team members include Lockheed Martin, Arctic Slope Regional Corporation, Omitron, Orbital Network Engineering, Silicon Graphics Inc., STC-METSAT, SM Resources Corp., RT Logic, and Photon Research Associates, a wholly owned subsidiary of Raytheon.
