Raytheon Recognized by the Department of Justice for Small Business Subcontracting Accomplishments

RESTON, Va., June 25, 2009 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has received a U.S. Department of Justice award for its fiscal year 2008 small business subcontracting accomplishments. Raytheon Information Solutions received the award for giving small businesses significant work on the FBI's Law Enforcement National Data Exchange (N-DEx) program.

"Raytheon values the important contribution of small businesses in complementing and enhancing the solutions and services we deliver to our customers," said TW Scott, Raytheon Information Solutions vice president. "We are proud that our work for the Department of Justice has provided an opportunity to engage with small businesses, which are so important to our national economy."

The Department of Justice's Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization presents the award to prime contractors that meet at least one category of their small business goals. The award's purpose is to improve and increase the department's use of small, small disadvantaged, small women-owned, veteran-owned, service-disabled veteran-owned and HUBZone small businesses as contractors and subcontractors.

Raytheon delivered the first increment of the N-DEx system in March 2008, and the second increment is scheduled for delivery in July 2009. Upon completion, the N-DEx system, which is based on an agile, service-oriented architecture, will enable 200,000 investigators in up to 18,000 local, state, tribal and federal law enforcement agencies to collect and share incident and investigative information across disparate systems and jurisdiction boundaries.
